Forests of Ash

Just finished Tom Griffiths’ Forests of Ash, an environmental history of the great ash forests of Victoria, with a focus on Black Friday 1939 and the terrible fires that devastated much of these great forests. Some of it is bit biological for me (the details of why forests re-generate, or don’t) some of it is right down my alley; the early ‘trampers’ in the Black Spur, the details of the fires, and the ruins of the timber industries that still exist deep in these forests now.
