There’s something about words and music put together that changes things, I was thinking again tonight, watching a short acoustic set by Stephen Cummings, one of my favourite Australian songwriters. The words alone don’t move me, but accompanied by a single guitar and a voice a song like ‘When Love Comes Back to Haunt Me’ has a power and resonance somehow that is alike, and different to, poetry.
